How a Cofferdam Works

How a Cofferdam Works

How a Cofferdam Works: A cofferdam is a temporary enclosure in or around a body of water that is constructed to allow the 3-D’s of construction work- dewatering, diversion, and damming of an enclosed area. The primary purpose of a cofferdam is to create a dry environment for a project to proceed. Previous damming possibilities included the construction of an unsightly wall or the constant monitored sandbags, both of which have proven to be flawed in their own ways. With Dam-It Dams inflatable water barriers.

After doing all the research on service providers and possible cofferdam options, you’ve found our strong geo-textile material cofferdams. Here’s how installation works:

Step 3: Two identical pumps are hooked up to fill the internal tubes with onsite water
Step 4: As the inner tubes fill, the dam unrolls evenly and is guided into place.
Step 5: The dam is nearly fully inflated as it reaches the opposite shore.
Step 6: The water is then pumped to one side of the dam.
Step 7: Having the water secure on one side of the dam, you can safely proceed with your project.
Step 8: Upon completion, you can drain the dam’s tubes completely, carefully roll it up, put it on the trailer, and move it to the next job or contact us for pick-up.
