A dry surface installation is the simplest type of installation procedure for a water filled cofferdam. The cofferdam is simply transported to where it needs to be, placed in position and then water is pumped into the cofferdam in order to inflate it. The most common scenario for such a dry surface installation is for flooding prevention.
Static Water Installation Procedure For A Water Filled Cofferdam
Water filled cofferdams are buoyant and can simply be floated into position within static water. They are transported to the required site and unrolled at the water’s edge. They are then floated out into the static water environment until they are positioned where they need to be. Inflation takes place and the added weight of the water lowers the cofferdam and anchors it into position.
Dynamic Water Installation Procedure For A Water Filled Cofferdam
Dynamic water installation is the most complicated procedure. Typically, one end of the water inflated cofferdam is anchored to the shore, and the other is fixed in placed by use of suitable equipment, such as a crane or a track hoe. Once in position, the dynamic water can be used to inflate the cofferdam. As it gains weight it will lower into place until it is anchored. At which point the attachments can be removed.
